EDULIS FOOD GROUP has placed an emphasis on empowerment in the new South Africa. The objective of EDULIS FOOD GROUP's empowerment programme is to establish new production facilities which are owned and manufactured by previously disadvantaged stakeholders through transfer of know-how technology and management skills that EDULIS FOOD GROUP has acquired over the years. Since 2001, EDULIS FOOD GROUP has been committed to the upliftment of previously disadvantaged communities and individuals through the direct participation of Black Economic Empowerment (B.E.E.) investors in all its operating subsidiaries. Kindly refer to the chart indicated below.
In order to achieve its objectives, EDULIS FOOD GROUP will develop its business over the next five years in the following areas of growth:
Added Value Products
EDULIS FOOD GROUP has, in the past, processed and marketed its products in bulk and sold its production to international industries - which in turn added value before distribution.
Management has embarked in the transformation of the factories in order to add value to the group's products in its own factories and distribute products directly to the Wholesale and Catering International Industry. This project, which was started in 2001, will contribute to improve margins in the Group.
New Processing Plants
The establishment of new production facilities will support the offshore marketing operations.
In the past few years the EDULIS FOOD GROUP has expanded into countries neighbouring South Africa.
While this has proven successful, management believes that it would be considerably more efficient, given the same long term harvesting contracts, to establish more processing plants in South Africa before expanding further in the African or other continents.
As the volume of the group's products has reached critical mass, it is necessary to grow the marketing and distribution infrastructure. EDULIS FOOD GROUP has established a direct distribution and marketing presence in the global international markets.
Transfer of know-how
EDULIS FOOD GROUP has, over the years, acquired a considerable "know-how" in the processing, and harvesting and distribution of wild mushrooms.
Possibilities exist for this know how to be transferred or leveraged against exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the products developed.
